Capitol Playground: Part II

Last week I referred to a bill passed in the US Senate that "urged that 2006 'should be a period of significant transition to full Iraqi sovereignty...'" This was odd considering that this phraseology sounds like the original plan the military had going into the war.


Moving on, this afternoon the Drudge Report had this excerpt from the 2006 Labor-HHS-Education Conference Report which names two buildings after Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Tom Harkin (D-IA), both of whom oversaw the conference! As I said last week, Congress has its priorities seriously out of whack. Samuel Alito's confirmation hearings have already been postponed until January, but it's good to know that in the meantime Congress has members naming buildings after themselves.

Get your s**t together, Congress. This nation voted your sorry arses into office, so the least you can do to repay them is to actually do something of worth to your constituents.
