Three Cheers for the "Fiscal Watch Team"

After Senator Tom Coburn's (R-OK) brilliant plan to offset at least partially the Hurricane Katrina spending was kicked and dragged and smeared all over the Senate floor last week, it seems he's combined forces with six other fiscal "mavericks" and come up with a six-point agenda that would save taxpayers $115 billion over the next two years. This is oh so much better than the other option: raising taxes $7,000 per household.

Brian M Riedl put together a nice piece of research on the plan over at the Heritage Foundation, and I must say it's worth a quick read or two.

The six other members of the "Fiscal Watch Team" include Senators John Ensign (R-NV), Sam Brownback (R-KS), Jim DeMint (R-SC), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John McCain (R-AZ), and John Sununu (R-NH).

Hmmm...how many of these folks are prez hopefuls?

But that is actually quite promising that Brownback, McCain, and Graham are sigining onto fiscally conservative legislation.
