Offseting Katrina Spending

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) offers a simple, no-nonsense plan to offset the $250 billion of proposed aid to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.

We should be able to do better than a freeze or a 5% cut. This kind of plan is being proposed for Katrina spending, but it should be proposed as a way to decrease our national debt and deficit, so that China no longer owns us.

China owning us???? Who cares. If US citizens start to invest then we can start owning more shares in our companies and more bonds of our government. Until then, they will continue to bail us out because we can't stop spending (both the government and consumers).

Exactly my point..the government needs to stop spending, so we should do better than a 5% cut.
